I apparently have nothing better to do than come home with my cool vintage scores and spend the next two hours scraping sticky residue off of glass items...Goo Gone and old credit card in hand....Or using a knife to open game boxes in hopes that they are complete sets, since I am not able to peek ahead of time and get a piece count.
Another sneaky thing thrift shops do, is they tape down the lid or top of a glass item, so you don't know if there is a chip inside. Sometimes its a cool enough item that you take the risk...only to later regret it. Yes, I am speaking from experience....
I think I am going to start a petition...For all Thrift shops to stop the gross overuse of packing tape. I am fucking serious!
Okay peeps, don't forget to follow my blog, instagram, twitter, tumblr and pinterest. Also check out my Etsy shops, links in the sidebar...
See ya next time!
My pet charity shop hate is when you take a book to the counter and the bleeding jobsworth behind the counter proceeds to hack out the title page because it has an inscription...Lincolnshire Hospice I'm talking about you...why it's a second hand book,,,
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, I have never had that happen! Lots of vintage books have descriptions. its part of the charm and to damage something. wow, just wow!!!! Shame on them!
DeleteIt makes me so angry when they tape to hide damage. I've actually gone back in to complain about that and they give you a line about how everything comes from processing like that. I also hate when they staple tags to clothing. It leaves two very noticeable holes!
ReplyDeleteI hate that! even with a staple remover, they are hard to remove and leave holes..sometimes they even double staple, ugh!
DeleteYep, they're notorious about that. Ever had good stuff with permanent marker or grease pen on it?! Evil.
ReplyDeleteI think they are in the backroom laughing, having a party with tape and staple guns and sharpies and they get drunk and tape and mark shit and laugh and laugh....
